Entropy Equation Chemistry and its Role in the Discovery of the Fundamental Laws of Thermodynamics

Entropy Equation Chemistry and its Role in the Discovery of the Fundamental Laws of ThermodynamicsIt is difficult to define the physical substance known as 'entropy'. One can define it very simply as a 'changing or disordering of properties of matter' - to alter, in other words. In our physical world it refers to 'disorder or change' in a manner that results in a degradation or reduction of properties of matter and energy. It is the flow of energy and matter that defines that 'change'disorder'. Because matter cannot be 'created' it is impossible for things to 'remain the same'. If you look at it from this angle, there is no such thing as 'an unchanging object'something that does not change'.But it is the subtle changes that we see that define that 'change'disorder' - just as the colors in the rainbow determine the form of the rainbow. The tiniest, most minute changes in form and motion give rise to the greater changes in color and intensity as they move toward the central points. So if the motion of molecules could be measured and the flow of energy and matter through them could be measured it would allow us to describe and predict the most probable way that the physical world would evolve and change over time. We could measure its growth and change and the events that might produce it - in other words a 'Entropy Equation Chemistry' which allowed us to predict how the universe would change over time.If we wanted to think about the implications of the mathematics of thermodynamics, we can imagine ourselves modeling the behavior of particles and atoms - if that were even possible in the first place. We can model and analyze the dynamics of gases, liquids and solids. If we are able to model, model and analyze everything that we observe in the universe and all that we can observe in the world, then it is not farfetched to assume that we could study and determine the laws that govern the behavior of everything in the universe, including the particles that make up atom s.In other words we would have, without any doubt, discovered the fundamental laws of thermodynamics. Indeed, I would argue that this is the most important discovery in the history of science. And yes, I realize that there have been many other such discoveries. However, none has come close to discovering and proving the existence of the Laws of Thermodynamics. The discovery of entropy would change everything. All of the laws of thermodynamics that had been established were based on 'experimental evidence' and assumptions, i.e. observations based on observations.

5 Ways to Overcome a Fear of Speaking in Public -TutorNerds

5 Ways to Overcome a Fear of Speaking in Public -TutorNerds 5 Ways to Overcome a Fear of Speaking in Public Public speaking is something nearly every student dreads. Every high school and college student will have to do some public speaking both in and outside of the classroom so its something that students should become comfortable with sooner rather than later. One of the reasons teachers put students through this torture is because they will need these skills later on in their career. In fact, a great orator is more likely to be able to persuade their audience and perhaps even advance further in their profession. Although every public speaker feels nervous, there are some excellent ways to overcome this fear of public speaking and win over the audience. 1.   Start with a small group setting School assignments are categorized into a small group setting and a larger setting. Speaking in front of an entire auditorium of people tends to be a lot more difficult than speaking in front of three or four people. Students are encouraged to start out in a small group setting where they can more easily connect with their audience and determine if the audience is getting bored and they need to move on from a topic or if people are confused, and they need to slow down. A small group setting will also allow audience members to give constructive feedback that will help the presenter engage more in the future. 2. Practice connecting with the audience One of the best ways to make a public speaking engagement successful is to engage with the audience truly. If they are interested in what the speaker is saying they will be more easily persuaded towards the argument or come up with interesting questions that can make the presentation better overall. When students start out they may not be able to make eye contact with the audience but, as they get more comfortable with the situation, they can connect with one or several members of the audience at a time perhaps even making them part of the presentation itself (READ: 5 Tips to Ace Your School Presentation). 3. Be 100% prepared A surefire way to make any public speaking engagement better is to be 100% prepared and knowledgeable when it comes to knowing the material. Students should be able to answer any number of questions and know a lot more about the subject matter than just what they are directly presenting on. Audiences, and teachers can easily tell when a presenter doesnt truly know their stuff so preparation is the key to an excellent public speaking assignment. 4. Dont worry if theres a bump in the road It is easier said than done to tell a student not to worry if something goes wrong during their presentation. However, the reality is that, at some point, something wont work. Either a Power Point slide will fail, or an audience member will be rude. Its important for the speaker to be able to take it in stride and either fix the situation or move on. Public speaking assignments truly fail when the presenter gets totally thrown off balance by a disruption and cant get back on track. If theres a little bump in the road, no sweat just keep going. 5. Practice makes perfect At the end of the day, practice makes perfect when it comes to being an excellent presenter. Speaking in front of a small or large audience can be difficult for many people, and their first few assignments might be a little bit tough. However, over time speaking in public will become second nature and, hopefully, students will develop this essential skill in time to apply it to their career. A new teachers perspective on teaching abroad

A new teacher’s perspective on teaching abroad Back in 2009, newly-qualified teachers were graduating in their droves, only to be greeted by a global financial crisis. In Dublin, Ireland, I was one of those teachers. Filled to the brim with enthusiasm, drive and passion to make an impact in my very own classroom, yet faced with the reality of unemployment and a serious lack of education funding in my home country. Like many a young teacher faced with a problem, I searched for a solution. That solution was discovering the worldwide demand for teachers as a result of the economic crash. There was (and still is) a drive for countries, organizations and individuals to upskill in response to an economic downturn. I decided to explore this opportunity and to leave home for warmer shores. Ten years later, I still haven’t returned. Here are some of the reasons why teaching abroad (whether for a short or long period of time) is the best thing you can ever do as an educator: Your bucket list will be never ending During my four years teaching in Abu Dhabi, I was in the perfect geographic location to access some of the coolest places on Earth. With the very generous holidays afforded to teachers, I was lucky enough to travel to Sri Lanka, Iceland, Oman, Zanzibar, Kazakhstan and even achieved a personal lifelong goal: visiting Nepal to see Mt. Everest in the flesh. As a teacher abroad, you will have ample holidays to explore and visit new places. The bucket list opportunities really are endless. Want to hear more first-hand stories from teachers in Abu Dhabi? Check out these posts fromAnchen and Lindsey. Impromptu lesson while on my holidays walking in the Himalayas. You’ll get out of that comfort zone Living in another country and culture will test you and push you outside your safe zones. Not only will you grow as aperson and learn an incredible amount about yourself - your strengths, weaknesses and limitations as an educator will also be revealed. The education system that we all grew up with and now work within is not the same as other education systems across the globe. Other countries have very different, and sometimes opposite approaches to education. In the Republic of Georgia for example, students are given more opportunities to explore practical skills, as well as the academic side of things, which reflects the particular needs of their economy and society. As a teacher, I learned a lot from this, and have brought elements with me from this experience. As part of this particular experience in Georgia, I also had to live with a host family, in a small town in the mountains. The challenges of living with a family who didn’t have much English, or electricity at times, served to build character and shifted my perspective on many previously-held ideas about the world. Lifelong dream realized - trekking to Everest Base camp! You’ll become more culturally aware I think we can all agree that the current global political climate seems to be emphasizing our differences rather than promoting what’s great about our diversity of thought and culture. The best antidote to this, in my opinion? Having the opportunity to experience living and working among other cultures. Over the course of my four years teaching in the public sector in the UAE, I was lucky to be able to challenge some of my own preconceived notions around life in the Middle East. Many things that I believed to be true, from the western perspective I was used to, were challenged. Sign up to Teach Away today for access to the latest teaching jobs around the world. I worked exclusively with local, Emirati children and their families. As a result, I gained some unique insights (that as a tourist I might not have experienced) into how their culture operates. I experienced communities and kids that were exactly like the small towns and communities I had grown up within Europe. These interactions really drove home for me how similar we all really are the world over. Through the nine countries I have been lucky to teach in so far (Australia, New Zealand, Georgia, Spain, Costa Rica, Indonesia, the UAE and Canada), I have also shared my own culture and background with the students and colleagues I’ve worked with. As a result, there are students in far-reaching corners of the globe that now know all about Ireland and Irish music (and probably speak English with a strong Irish accent!) On the Island of Bali, there are a group of teenagers who now know how to do the Riverdance. Forget about curriculum, being able to dance like Michael Flatley is a seriously important life skill. Bali, Indonesia: Connecting with local students through the magic of Riverdance! You’ll become a better teacher than you ever thought possible Needless to say, the valuable international experience you receive abroad will be in demand once you return home. Your experience with different curricula, different styles of leadership and approaches to education, will shine on your resume. During my time teaching in the UAE, I was lucky to be given the opportunity to be a head teacher for a year. In Bali, I had the opportunity to write courses and curricula for local teachers. In Georgia, I helped to train local teachers. All of these experiences have propelled me forward in so many ways with my career in international education. Simply put, now is an incredible time to teach internationally. Not only is there currently an acute shortage of teachers in many regions of the world, over the next four years estimates show that an additional 150,000 qualified teachers will be needed. It’s the only profession that I know of where the whole world is open for you to explore and where you can make a true impact. I mean, who doesn’t want their legacy to be teaching 50 Indonesian kids to dance the Riverdance? Psst: Before you go, have a read of our earlier post on where you can earn and save the most money teaching abroad this year!

Getting Your Community Service Credits

Getting Your Community Service Credits Community Service: Do Whats Important to You Community service used to be something that you could choose to do or choose not to do. It looked good on your college applications but wasn’t mandatory. That sounds like a nice option, right? Well, those days are long gone. Each one of you will have to meet a certain number of community service hours to graduate high school and enter college. Universities don’t want you to think of this as just another task that must be completed but rather a way that you can add to your community doing something that is really important to you. Choosing something that you are passionate about or is of particular interest to your community at large helps the universities you are applying to see how you could add to their community and can be a significant part of entering a college of your choice. Community service for teens can actually be fun if you choose something that you are curious about or have some interest in. You may also find that your personal entrance essay will be easier to write if you have a particular passion that you have some demonstrated experience in. Think about something in your community that you would like to change or something that is missing. Teacher inspiration This years winner of the Global Teacher Prize

Teacher inspiration This year’s winner of the Global Teacher Prize “She’s like a hero to me. She really is.” These are the words used by a student at Alperton Community School in Brent, West London in the UK to describe his art and textiles teacher, Andria Zafirakou. Andria is not only a hero to this student, but to all of her students, to her colleagues, and to the community. She’s also the winner of the 2018 Global Teacher Prize. This prestigious $1 million US award is given out annually to a single teacher from anywhere in the world who’s judged to have made the most significant contribution to their profession. Having heard Andria’s story and understanding all she does to make sure every single one of her students reaches their full potential, we’re feeling pretty inspired here at Teach Away. We’re hoping Andria can inspire you, too. Here are some of Andria’s accomplishments at Alperton Community School that helped to define her as this year’s winner: Andria uses her role as an art and textiles teacher to communicate with her students in ways not bound by language and culture. This is imperative to a productive learning environment at Alperton due to the fact that approximately 35 different languages are spoken there and 85% of students speak English as an additional language. In a diverse multicultural neighborhood with poverty, gang activity and domestic violence, Andria goes above and beyond to protect her students. Not only does she personally accompany her students as they board their buses at the end of the day, but she works closely with local police and is acutely aware of any stirrings in her school’s backyard that could be signs of gang presence. She’s established a boxing club to provide students with an opportunity to grow their confidence and self-esteem, while staying healthy and off the streets. Andria leads the professional development charge at Alperton. In addition to constantly improving her own teaching skill set, she’s also taken it upon herself to provide opportunities for her colleagues to improve theirs. As a result, Alperton is one of only ten schools in the UK to earn the Quality Mark Platinum Award. For more on Andria’s incredible involvement at Alperton Community School, check out this video:

Instead, they prefer to send their children to babysitters, who can stay over and help their children with their homework or reading. There are many other reasons why the tutoring program has become so popular in the town of Lansing. Some of the factors include the advantages of being a mother and being trained at an educational center. Another advantage is that parents are able to help their children more effectively because they are able to learn the best ways of how to raise a child at home.Being a mom, you know that raising a child alone is hard. Chemistry Tutor Baths - Your Student Could Benefit From It

Chemistry Tutor Baths - Your Student Could Benefit From ItMany students who have not had any formal study at all, would be enticed by the idea of having a chemistry tutor bath. This could be one of the many great ways to boost their grades by being with a tutor. By having a chemical subject on hand, which they would need to take notes on, they would be able to think logically about the course material they are required to take.Nowadays, in order to obtain a chemistry qualification, it is absolutely essential to obtain a certificate or degree. However, this does not necessarily mean that a student will automatically qualify for a university degree. For the most part, the school they are applying to must accept that level. The hygiene of these students will also be looked upon as they have to get into a communal shower, thus having to prepare for washing, after class, as well as showering again. Often, they have to use the same equipment to wash up as their fellow students. Therefore, h aving a tutor to clean them up, could also be quite handy, especially for those students who are nervous about sharing showers with their peers. The only down side to the tutoring, is that there will not be enough hours in the day for them to complete the required number of lessons for the day courses. The day courses are usually long and require a lot of work from them, but the tutor bath could easily be able to meet the requirements. In fact, having a tutor's help in your student's bathroom could be rather helpful. This would definitely save the students, time, and money. Although the children's lessons would have to be completed, the tutor could still check off the task as completed for themselves.By having the assistance, they could still be able to turn around, finish all their daily homework, and then set off, just by getting to their destination in the morning. Not only that, but all the other tasks involved in preparing and taking notes could be finished whilst the tutor bath was taking place.A tutor can assist you in taking the course materials to be turned in, the preparation of all the lab papers, all the instructions on how to perform all the lab experiments and then the report can be completed, then submitted. This would be an immense advantage to all of the students. The tutor's help could prove to be very beneficial indeed.

Life Coach Training

Life Coach Training What is Involved in Life Coach Training? ChaptersWhat Does a Life Coach Do?Training for Life CoachesHow to Train as a Life CoachWhy Should You Undergo Training?Life coaching is a relatively new phenomenon, but one that is catching on like wildfire among certain demographics!People who yearn for more out of their life but have no idea how to get it, seek out life coaches.People who are faced with a sudden change of life: lottery winners, empty nesters and retirees, those who have vowed to overcome severe emotional or physical trauma...Even people at the start of their careers are looking for an edge by engaging the services of a life coach Glasgow! And they’re not the only ones: these days, more and more businesses are including life coaching in employees’ benefits packages.Clearly, becoming a life coach can be lucrative: the monthly rate for such services runs anywhere between £150-1000 per client!Wouldn’t you like to jump on that bandwagon? If you think you have what it takes to become a life coach â€" passion, inspir ation, motivation and the ability to encourage others, all you need to find out is how to actually become a life coach.Let Superprof show you the way! And, s/he is not a business coach: if you are having business woes, you need a different type of coach.Lastly, s/he is not a therapist. If there are legitimate psychological issues barring you from your goals, s/he would certainly recommend you work with a clinician.Where a life coach Bristol excels is in helping you define your goals â€" be they personal or professional, and empowering you to reach them.“Nobody at work likes me!” is not a reason to seek out a life coach. However, if you’ve long felt that you are not where you belong, at work or in life, such a professional is the one you need! How do they get so good at helping people live satisfying lives?Training for Life CoachesThere is no mandated certification process or training requirement for life coaching in the UK.There: we got that out of the way! However, there are trai ning programmes that will render you a most effective life coach. And, while anyone can hang out a shingle (or advertise on social media) that they are a life coach, the savvy client will certainly want to see your International Coach Federation accreditation.Besides, it just makes good sense to undergo a training program to become a certified life coach. Here, the GROW model of coaching, where reality and options are reversed Source: Pixabay Credit: TheDigitalArtistA Bit of Background on Life Coach TrainingOne might argue that life coaching has its roots in sports coaching.Indeed, the book The Inner Game of Tennis shifted the focus of the player from technical skill needed for playing to the psychological readiness of winning.Getting rid of self-doubt and anxiety allows the player to become his/her best self: essentially, it means getting out of one’s own way and learning to trust oneself to do a good job. That same philosophy goes back even further: to what we know as a state of Ze n, from the Tang dynasty in China which, in turn, has its roots in the ancient Indian practice of meditation.Timothy Gallwey’s book was pivotal to the creation of the GROW model.GROW stands for:Goals â€" what do you want to achieve?Reality: what is the actual situation you face?Obstacles: what stands in your way of achieving your goals? Once they’ve been identified, O is also:Options: what options do you have to achieve your goals?Way forward: what actions need to be taken in order to reach your goals? This is one of the earliest and most influential models of coaching, still in use today. It is also the foundation of several other coaching models!Other impactful discoverers of effective coaching include Werner Erhard, who ran self-empowerment workshops around the time the Tennis book was published, and Thomas Leonard. He was the budget director for a company called Landmark Worldwide, formerly Landmark Education.Oftentimes people would ask him big life questions that essentially h ad nothing to do with finance, his area of expertise. He realised that financial dire straits were more of a symptom of grave underlying personal problems than a problem in itself.Armed with Mr Erhard’s teaching materials â€" which his company had bought outright, he went on to found, among other associations, the International Coach Federation, which became the main accrediting and credentialing body for coaches. The ICF now operates in 140 countries, ours included! How to Train as a Life CoachThe premier organisation that trains coaches, in the UK and elsewhere, is called the Coaches Training Institute, or CTI.Since their establishment in London in 1996, they have built a no-fail curriculum that churns out, on average, 200 coaches each year.Prospective coaches first undergo the Fundamentals module, a two-and-a-half day workshop that emphasises communications. This is not a lecture seminar; in no way are the participants passively digesting information!Everyone uses their newly-acqui red skills within the workshop, formulating pointed questions used in root cause analysis, and three levels of listening.Upon successful completion of this model, the coaching candidate earns 18.75 points towards his curriculum completion (the entire course totals 200 hours).‘Fundamentals’ serves as a prerequisite for the next modules, cumulatively called The Intermediate Series. This chain of courses must be taken in sequential order, and consist of: Fulfillment, Balance, Process and Synergy. Each title represents a 3-day workshop, wherein you would go progressively deeper into the philosophy, psychology and techniques of coaching.Once those steps are complete, you have the option of going yet farther: becoming a Certified Professional Coactive Coach. That title, along with ICF credentialing is the culmination of your 200 hours of learning â€" be it in actual workshops, virtual meetings or by consulting with clients. If you apply yourself rigorously, the whole course takes 25 weeks to complete, at a cost of around £6000.What do all that time and money get you?Nothing is quite so valuable as what you earn! Source: Pixabay Credit: Kristopher KWhy Should You Undergo Training? At this point, after ingesting that price tag and time commitment, you might be thinking:If there are no licensing requirements, why should I spend all that time and money? You would be absolutely correct, but you could not be more wrong. The essence of being a life coach is knowing you are your very best self, and still working to become better. All aggrandisement aside, how could you know how good you are now and what skills you’re missing if you don’t subject them to professional scrutiny? And, even if you do have fantastic interpersonal skills â€" your friends all say you are the best listener, why not improve on them?Contrary to popular belief, practice does not make perfect; it makes better â€" what a liberating thought that is!Think about it: one never prides about anything they didn ’t work for or earn; it is the thrill of the chase that we humans crave.Even in the American Declaration of Independence, those citizens are only guaranteed the pursuit of happiness; not happiness itself. Did their founding fathers wish to impress on future generations that the quest for achievement is its own reward? It thus stands to reason that one couldn’t revere what they have not worked for, ardently pursued, and earned through their own dedication!Besides, there is always something new to learn...Whether you establish yourself with a coaching business or start a business of your own: as someone trained in coaching techniques, your credibility is already assured. From there, you can offer your coaching services to corporations â€" remember, they are waking up to the need for life coaches, or find a niche market.Perhaps at a senior centre, counselling those aforementioned retirees, or maybe help repatriate people who have lived out of the country for a few years. It all starts with developing the right skills and attitudes that will make you, and your clients, successful.Earlier we credited only Americans with the life coaching revolution, and that wasn’t entirely accurate...You might thrill to know that it was an Englishman, Sir John Whitmore who brought life coaching to the UK, after a dynamic career as a race car driver. He found himself at odds with what to do with himself after he ran his last lap... sound familiar? His interest in sports and psychology led him to America, to study under Mr Gallwey himself. He returned to England in the late 70’s with a few fellows; initially, they coached sports but soon turned their attention to the business world, developing a coaching programme for managers. He remained active in the personal coaching business, even founding an association of personal coaches that ultimately merged with the International Coach Federation, for whom he served as a trustee until his death. Now, that’s a passion!Find relevant resou rces for life coaches here.See here how you can build up your clients as a life coach London.
